#9 SHOW OF 2009: COLDPLAY at SPAC

After the reschedule, for which Chris Martin apologized profusely I was finally at SPAC shooting Coldplay. The place was packed. The rules were strict.
While my fandom ended with the purchase of A Rush of Blood to the Head , I was still super giddy with excitement of shooting a world renowned group of musicians and Gwenyth’s husband. She wasn’t around in case you’re wondering, but everyone else seemed to be. A group of us photogs, waited at stage right for the opening entertainers to do some random break dancing. Then there was a group performance to some classical music and finally the Coldplay guys came out. It was a completely captivating experience. As I was shooting, I really felt like I was in the music. Even upon exiting the premises, the music resounded throughout that I wanted more and more and more. The big Viva la Vida balloon, and the family area border space around it, the blue haze of light at the stage and the giant yellow balls they threw in the audience (after song 4…which is when we had been escorted out) were showmanship at its best. I left with a new sense of appreciation for these guys.
