This summer Nickelback surprised me and put out a song I reluctantly started to like. I even dubbed it the sexy summer song (actual title is Something in your mouth). So, when it was announced that they’d be coming to SPAC, I promptly emailed my contact and offered up free photos in exchange for photo pass access.
On day of show I frantically drove back from a shoot in Montgomery County right to SPAC. When I got there, I found out that there was no pit. Good thing because there was pry! Bottom line is that as the hot blasts of fire went off far from my face (I have an irrational fear of pyro – it terrifies and surprises me every time it goes off) I realized that I was enjoying the music. My favorite shot of Chad is the one in the sea of blue backlight. It takes me back to the scene where the band’s connection with the crowd was obvious without having to look around. Radio rock or not, I gotta give them credit. This year they won me over…even if it was for only a few songs.
